The 70th IPSF World Congress, in collaboration with the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS), is thrilled to announce a national essay competition with the topic:

“The Role of Regulatory Affairs in Shaping Access to Safe, Effective, and High-Quality Medicines Across Borders”


With the African Medicines Agency (AMA) gaining traction and regulatory harmonisation initiatives gaining momentum, now more than ever, young voices must join the conversation. From collaborative registration pathways to regional networks like the EAC-MRH, this competition aims to explore how regulatory systems impact the pharmaceutical landscape — especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

📌 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to Kenyan nationals only (students or recent pharmacy graduates).
  • Must demonstrate a keen interest in pharmaceutical policy, public health, or regulatory sciences.

📋 Essay Requirements:

  • Minimum 800 words, Maximum 1000 words (excluding references).
  • Original content demonstrating understanding of regulatory harmonisation, access to medicines, and cross-border pharmaceutical challenges.
  • Submissions should cite real-world examples like AMA, AVAREF, or WHO Collaborative Registration Procedure.

  • Clarity and originality of ideas.
  • Understanding of the topic and use of practical examples.
  • Structure, coherence, and use of credible references.
  • Grammar and overall presentation.
